Happy Birthday Winona Ryder!

If I showed you scripts from my first few movies, the descriptions of my characters all said 'the ugly girl'.

Life's short, so if you're going to spend months doing something, it's gotta be pretty special... But I'm very happy to enter my Baby Jane years, and hopefully segue into the Ruth Gordon years.

It's part of the celebrity process but my life has never been as interesting or as wild as what's been printed about me.

I think I'm learning to be bolder in my career choices and be more confident in my personal life. I haven't always felt very secure as an individual, but now I feel I certain confidence and sense of self that gets me through the day a lot better than before.

I don't hang out with agents and producers and I'm not into the business side at all.

My father is an atheist. My mother is Buddhist. They encouraged my siblings and me to take the best part of other religions to make our own belief system.

Googling yourself is maybe one of the worst things you can do. I did it once, and someone had to talk me off a ledge.

I've learned that it's OK to be flawed.

My parents are awesome, but they're pretty left-wing.

I love photography and first editions. I have that in my genes. My father was an archivist.

I'm not interested in playing the girl that's just there to make the guy, you know, give him a talking to.

You can't pay enough money to... cure that feeling of being broken and confused.

I've loved making movies. I feel like I've been so lucky because I've gotten to be in movies that are some of my favorites, regardless of my being in them - like 'Heathers.'

There was a time when I was 19 when I really, really, really thought I was going crazy. I was exhausted and going through a terrible depression.

Money doesn't matter on a deeply personal level. It doesn't make you feel any happier. But of course I am very aware that I don't have to worry about earning a living or about those very important practical things that most people have to worry about on a very real level.

Weird people follow you in the streets, you can't sit alone in a restaurant or a cafe and read a book in peace, and I think everybody values those moments of being alone.

I was inspired by lots of people, certainly in acting and in writing and stuff, but I never wanted to be somebody else.

I feel like I had to learn how to take care of myself and find out what made me happy aside from just making films.

I'm not into wrinkles.

You go through spells where you feel that maybe you're too sensitive for this world. I certainly felt that.

It's an indication of how cynical our society has become that any kind of love story with a sad theme is automatically ridiculed as sentimental junk.

I have this sense that I didn't really start growing up until my twenties.

I was very depressed after breaking off my engagement with Johnny ten years ago. I was embarrassingly dramatic at the time, but you have to remember I was only 19 years old.

Remember, I'm the kind of kid who used to get stuffed into a locker by school bullies. I've never felt like I'm a big star at any level of my life.

It's just people should realize that the celebrity aspect of being an actor is very rarely enjoyable for people like me who would always rather go unnoticed and disappear into the crowd.

I love books and going to bookstores. My favorite sound is the sound of the needle hitting the record.

My dad took me to all the best rock and punk shows when I was growing up and music has always been a part of my life. So I'm very interested in the music scene and I suppose that's why I've ended up going out with musicians. Dave Pirner is still one of my best friends.

I feel my best when I'm happy.

Even though 'Heathers' didn't make a lot of money, I really was able to transition into a situation where people thought I could play an attractive role because of it.

I would love to someday do a play. I did one when I was very young in San Francisco, where I grew up. A girl can dream.

I was regarded as the school freak which further reinforced a lot of inhibitions and doubts I had about myself. I was a shy, frightened teenager for a long time.

People think that they just want movies like Pretty Woman, when really they - at least the ones that I know personally - have been waiting for something that doesn't completely insult them.

That's an aspect of this business which can be very frustrating and aggravating. Most of what is written about you is wrong and so much of what does get printed is often about personal things that you don't want to have other people read about.

The older you get, the more yourself you can be and the less worried you are about what other people think.

What's awful about being famous and being an actress is when people come up to you and touch you. That's scary, and they just seem to think it's okay to do it, like you're public property.

Break-ups are hard for anybody, but it's particularly tough when it's being documented and you see the person's picture everywhere. Most people don't have that added problem when they break up with someone.

I don't use the Internet, but apparently you can find out everything on it.

I am not a person who can really sit around and think about regrets because with every bad experience that you have, there is weirdly something good that comes from it.

I love westerns. John Ford is one of the 10 best directors.

You've got to grow up sometime.

I think it's important to have as much as a normal life and take the time to get perspective because it only helps your work in the long run.

I loved movies, but I can't remember ever really wanting to be an actress, and I certainly didn't imagine ever being in a movie. I think I wanted to be a writer.

But I've always felt a need to have a life which is completely separate - at least as far as possible - from the kind of illusory lifestyle that comes with being a celebrity.

For a long time, I was almost ashamed of being an actress. I felt like it was a shallow occupation. People would be watching my every move.

I think I really scored with my parents. All of my friends pretty much came from broken homes, and my parents are still together, but not only that, they're still in love and still write together.

I'm quite comfortable looking at myself in movies, probably because I've been doing it for so long, since I was a kid. So I sort of watched myself grow up and go through adolescence, like, basically on camera.

It's really good to be able to think about past loves without having a pit in my stomach, or cringing or feeling heart-broken, or like they hate you. Don't you think?

When you finally accept that it's OK not to have answers and it's OK not to be perfect, you realize that feeling confused is a normal part of what it is to be a human being.

I was very lucky because Tim Burton really gave me a career. I don't think Hollywood would've known what to do with me. If I hadn't done 'Beetlejuice,' I think I would've just gone back to my school.

I don't believe I am influencing anybody but myself.

I'm the type who'd rather not work than work on something I'm not into. I've done that a couple of times, and I feel like I can totally see it in my performance.

I'm not into older guys. To tell you the truth, Richard Gere is not the sexiest man alive, in my book.

You try to get out there and live. I've always had good friends who've been very supportive and help make me feel good and grounded because I've never felt attached to the film industry.

It's equally as important to me to be a good friend and a good sister and a good daughter. I'm very close with my family and friends.

It's also a question of finding good material and interesting roles. I'm not the only actress out there, and good parts just don't fall into your lap that easily. But I like most of the films I've made recently and so I'm pretty positive about the future.

Happy Birthday Dieter Nuhr!

Warum will trotzdem keiner blöd sein?

Lavo ergo sum.

Happy Deanna Troi Day! LLAP

I've gone through all her belongings, I've read her journal for the last five years. And other than the fact that I'm not married yet, nothing bad seems to have happened to her.

Flowers of all hue - and without thorn the rose.

Isn't it better to remember her like that? I just found out I had a sister I never knew. I'd like to learn what was good and joyous about her - to celebrate her life, not mourn it.

Milton was speculating that in heaven, roses wouldn't have thorns.

Mother, you're supposed to be avoiding telepathy.

Mother, don't start.

Mother, stop it.

What's wrong?

It's more than that. I'm sensing some very erratic emotions from her. Even the clothes she's wearing are unusual. They're so subdued.

Oh, I don't know what got into me. Ohh... please, tell Will how sorry I am.

It's a neurotransmitter involved in telepathy.

No. I want to help you. Why did you delete parts of your journal? Did something happen to you you don't want me to know about?

Are you talking to me from Sick Bay?

You're not Captain Picard.

You have to. You can't hold it back. It's killing you.

Mother? Can you hear me? Please come back to me. Please.

How? How can I help you?

You have to let it go.

You have no idea! No idea what this is like. How can you know what it's like to lose something you never had?

People come to talk to you about things they want to reveal. As ship's counselor, you have to get them to talk about things they *don't* want to reveal.

You have no idea how frightening it is to... to just be here, without sensing you, without sharing your feelings.

You know what the worst part of this is? And I've seen it happen to so many patients.

The way other people change. How they start to treat you differently. They walk on eggshells around you. Sometimes they avoid you altogether. Sometimes they become overbearing - "reach out a helping hand to the blind woman".

Is this how you handle all your personnel problems?

Right now, I feel as two-dimensional as our friends out there - in the universe, but barely aware of it. Just trying to survive... on instinct.

It's all right. They're home. We were wrong. The cosmic string was never dangerous to them; it was the one place in the galaxy they most wanted to be.

I never fully appreciated how difficult, and how rewarding it is to be Human. But I had a lot of help.

A little. You were right, though. There is something to be learned when you're not in control of every situation.

By the way - the next time you call me 'aristocratic'...

I know Klingons like to be alone on their birthdays. You probably want to meditate or hit yourself with a pain stick or something.

Happy Birthday Julia Roberts!

I believe that two people are connected at the heart, and it doesn't matter what you do, or who you are or where you live; there are no boundaries or barriers if two people are destined to be together.

True love doesn't come to you it has to be inside you.

Mode ist Ansteckung mit etwas Neuem.

My life at home gives me absolute joy. There are some days when, as soon as you've finished cooking breakfast and cleaning up the kitchen, it's time to start lunch, and by the time you've done that, you're doing dinner and thinking, 'There has to be a menu we can order from.'

You know it's love when all you want is that person to be happy, even if you're not part of their happiness.

I don't have the luxury of sitting around any more. I must have had bags of spare time before I had children, but I don't know what I did with it and I didn't appreciate it. But it's such a terrific trade-off. I don't have time to get a pedicure, but I sure am happy. Who cares if your feet look bad?

You have to be smart enough not to dismiss where you came from. It may not be all we are, but it makes up for a great deal.

It's funny when people say, 'I don't think Julia likes me.' Honey, if I don't like you, you're going to know about it.

I'm definitely a practicing Hindu.

You can be true to the character all you want but you've got to go home with yourself.

In essence, I owe my career to Garry Marshall. There was no known reason for him to hire me for 'Pretty Woman.'

'Snow White' is an old fairy tale, so obviously the idea of vanity and obsession with youth is long-standing. With today's science, people have become crazy with trying to move their face around. It's bizarre.

I love to cook, and I love to have all my family around the dinner table.

I just want to make a point that it's not just great teachers that sometimes shape your life. Sometimes it's the absence of great teachers that shapes your life and being ignored can be just as good for a person as being lauded.

If you love someone, you say it, right then, out loud. Otherwise, the moment just passes you by.

The older you get, the more fragile you understand life to be. I think that's good motivation for getting out of bed joyfully each day.

My real hair color is kind of a dark blonde. Now I just have mood hair.

Love is not love, without a violin playing goat.

Happiness isn't happiness unless there's a violin-playing goat.

A fever is an expression of inner rage.

I just have a great life. I know great people. I've had great relationships - all different kinds of relationships.

I tried Botox one time and was permanently surprised for a couple of months. It was not a cute look for me. My feeling is, I have three children who should know what emotion I'm feeling at the exact moment I'm feeling it... that is critical.

I don't get angry very often. I lose my temper rarely. And when I do, there's always a legitimate cause. Normally I have a great lightness of being. I take things in a very happy, amused way.

People love scandal; people love drama. They love stripping away the layers to see what's really in there, and they'll do anything - as well as make it up - to get it.

I'm just an ordinary person who has an extraordinary job.

I'm too tall to be a girl. I'm between a chick and a broad.

I enjoy hats. And when one has filthy hair, that is a good accessory.

Something that's such a joy in my life every day - cooking - is this incredible, horrific danger to women around the world.

We all need to take a deep breath and think about being a Bush daughter and having that cross to bear. I'd go out and have a couple of drinks too.

I can direct breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I take pride in my kitchen, but I'm not going to direct a movie.

I think less is more when it comes to kissing in the movies.

Show me a person who doesn't like to laugh and I'll show you a person with a toe tag.

Patchouli has always been a part of my fragrance, like a line through my life.

Your face tells a story and it shouldn't be a story about your drive to the doctor's office.

I am completely happy with my life. I love everything about it.

I think enough cannot be said for what you can discover through literature. So I think that was probably my most valued characteristic as a teenager.

Show me a mall, and I'm happy.

I don't spend a lot of time in the mirror.

I think that I am a deeply optimistic person.

I'm better for all the things that have happened to me, the good and the bad.

Sally Field taught me to do needlepoint on 'Steel Magnolias,' and a standby painter on 'Pelican Brief' taught me to knit. I'm pretty good at it now!

The kind of energy I attract is very calm.

Two of my three siblings are older, so I suppose I learned from them and became a very avid reader at a young age, which I think enough cannot be said for what you can discover through literature.

I definitely think some of my older female peer group are deeply beautiful women. They have this thing that radiates from them.

I did get to keep the wedding dresses from 'Runaway Bride'. They're all boxed up in my garage. I've never opened them. It'll be fun one day when Hazel is taller. She can play dress-up with her friends.

I just have a great life. I know great people. I've had great relationships - all different kinds of relationships. I am so lucky to be on the little golden path that led me to all this.

Making movies is not rocket science. It's about relationships and communication and strangers coming together to see if they can get along harmoniously, productively, and creatively. That's a challenge. When it works, it's fantastic and will lift you up. When it doesn't work, it's almost just as fascinating.

I choose totally by instinct. And the only time I've ever gone against my instincts, I've regretted it.

Happy Birthday Eros Ramazzotti!

I began to swim in millions soon , which I wasn’t ready for, as I was never taught how to deal with money either. The period, especially between 1995 and 2000 was a party time for me as I occupied myself by purchasing houses, cars, motorcycles, clothes.

As a child growing up, there were no books in my parents` home, no suggestions were ever made how to even have a decent conversation, no guidance was provided in search of oneself. The only source of information that I would get from my father was the inappropriate photos of women. The first thing as a support that I received from my father was a guitar after he recognized my passion for music. Nowadays, I try to self educate myself by purchasing good books which I almost never read because I become lazy after glancing at a football game on TV.

I would never have stood before an altar if it wasn’t for Michelle’s insistence. I am an atheist myself, and I don’t consider marriage something natural but rather I view it as something that God wishes, I will never get married again. All I have left from the marriage which lasted three years ten months and eighteen days is my daughter Aurora, who’s my biggest treasure and finding.

I tried to study accounting, but the numbers would just dance in my head. I only thought about music, music, music...

I mainly wrote the book to help my fans understand who I really am, since I find most of interviews unsympathetic and very difficult to get my messages across through.

As a young Roman in the early 80’s, Ramazzotti went to Milan in order to develop his musical skills. He recalls: I was so shy at the time that I would simply get terrified of going to restaurants all by myself, so I would go without eating throughout my time in Milan.

Only the truth will never be silenced.

Happy Birthday Bill Gates!

It's fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.

Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can't lose.

Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important.

640 Kilobyte Arbeitsspeicher ist alles, was irgendeine Anwendung jemals benötigen sollte.

The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.

Geistiges Eigentum hat die Haltbarkeitdauer einer Banane.

I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.

Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.

We all need people who will give us feedback. That's how we improve.

I'm a great believer that any tool that enhances communication has profound effects in terms of how people can learn from each other, and how they can achieve the kind of freedoms that they're interested in.

Governments will always play a huge part in solving big problems. They set public policy and are uniquely able to provide the resources to make sure solutions reach everyone who needs them. They also fund basic research, which is a crucial component of the innovation that improves life for everyone.

If you go back to 1800, everybody was poor. I mean everybody. The Industrial Revolution kicked in, and a lot of countries benefited, but by no means everyone.

The PC has improved the world in just about every area you can think of. Amazing developments in communications, collaboration and efficiencies. New kinds of entertainment and social media. Access to information and the ability to give a voice people who would never have been heard.

If you can't make it good, at least make it look good.

The U.S. immigration laws are bad - really, really bad. I'd say treatment of immigrants is one of the greatest injustices done in our government's name.

Headlines, in a way, are what mislead you because bad news is a headline, and gradual improvement is not.

Climate change is a terrible problem, and it absolutely needs to be solved. It deserves to be a huge priority.

Historically, privacy was almost implicit, because it was hard to find and gather information. But in the digital world, whether it's digital cameras or satellites or just what you click on, we need to have more explicit rules - not just for governments but for private companies.

Deine unzufriedensten Kunden sind deine größte Lernquelle.

Information technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don't think anybody can talk meaningfully about one without the talking about the other.

What's amazing is, if young people understood how doing well in school makes the rest of their life so much interesting, they would be more motivated. It's so far away in time that they can't appreciate what it means for their whole life.

You may have heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. There's another day you might want to know about: Giving Tuesday. The idea is pretty straightforward. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, shoppers take a break from their gift-buying and donate what they can to charity.

Software is a great combination between artistry and engineering.

Happy Birthday Robert Picardo!

It's my birthdayyyyyyy!! I am proud to be in show business for 39 years and to I still love what I do. Come see me

Same-sex marriage is the law of the land! In a five-four decision, the Supreme Court upholds our Constitution.

Cool day !! Nothing like a good dose of science to make your day special!!

Okay: indulge me, please – –if Donald Trump were a Starfleet  Captain, what would be his Prime Directive?

Prosthetic make-up is very constricting to wear. The actors who are most successful in it are willing to be very expressive to make the make-up look real and move real. Working in make-up is more emotional acting than regular acting, like you're singing an aria; you let it invade your whole body.

I resent those who say "Trump is an entertainer, not a leader,"     Gives entertainers a bad name....

Donald Trump is my dream candidate – speaking as a Democrat. I hope and pray that he wins the nomination. If you are at Trump fan, we agree!

Culture Wars Dead Horse File: Huckabee and Cruz visit rally for Kim Davis today. If either gets the nomination, he'll have at least  1 vote!

On how the success of Stargate - Kommando SG-1 (1997) has surpassed that of Star Trek in recent years: I am always amazed when I travel abroad that Stargate has become huge. It's huge in Britain. It's far eclipsed Star Trek. It's now huge in Germany. I understand they're making big inroads in other countries.

Great 21 year old clip of Dick Cheney on Meet the Press effectively predicting a war in Iraq would create present Isis reality. Bipolarity?

Balloon gives birth to 55-year-old man. T-shirt like placenta baffles medical/balloon experts.

Endangered Species Alert:    Javan Rhino, Cross River Gorilla, Republican politicians not running for President , Leatherback Turtle...

If Picard can baldly go, why not Picardo?

Record number of Emmy screeners this year.  My house sitter so glued to the TV my car battery died...

Experienced my third Carol Channing possession of 2015. Somewhat disappointed it didn't occur on the 31st.

What do you mean I have a silly life?

I came to the Star Trek franchise a little late. I got into it, I married a woman who's a big Star Trek fan, so, even though I was not into it when I was a kid, in order to court my wife I had to go to Star Trek movies. You know, I think she had a thing for Captain Kirk, right when she was hitting puberty -- which is really when they get you! And, uh, I really grew to understand and appreciate the quality of Star Trek storytelling. And then, when I joined the Voyager franchise, and really became knowledgeable about Star Trek -- and watched more and more of the other shows, that preceded us -- I think that I became a Star Trek fan in my own right, as well as a Star Trek actor.

Been left Twitter-speechless the last few days by Donald Trump's comments. Which cartoon character does he most resemble?Foghorn Leghorn?

Water found on Mars! Will Southern California be next?

Live long and prosper!

Happy Birthday Niccolò Paganini!

I am not handsome, but when women hear me play, they come crawling to my feet.

Happy Birthday Bob Hoskins!

I realised one day that men are emotional cripples. We can't express ourselves emotionally, we can only do it with anger and humour. Emotional stability and expression comes from women.

I'm very romantic. I've emptied flower shops.

am fairly rich. Money's very handy, let's face it.

Quantum physics is a bit of a passion of mine. It's extraordinary. There's a branch of mathematics that is based on lunacy, and that's wonderful.

Actors are just entertainers, even the serious ones. That's all an actor is. He's like a serious Bruce Forsyth.

Monogamy is a possibility - and a necessity. Kids have got to have something they can rely on. You have got to have something you rely on.

I'm a feminist, yes! Very strongly.

I've played so many historical characters because most horrible dictators are short, fat, middle-aged men.

If you are going to do a film properly you have to give yourself completely to it.

I'd say I am partial to women.

It's not easy to walk out on a marriage and two young kids, and it's the most difficult thing I've ever had to do.

One of the things I've realised is that I am very simple. My wife asked me once if I loved her. I said: 'Look love, I'm a simple man. I love you. End of story.' But I guess you gotta keep saying it with women. I guess she needed reassurance.

I've watched films and even forgotten I'm in them.

It's your life, live it your way.

Happy Birthday Pablo Picasso!

Why do two colors, put one next to the other, sing? Can one really explain this? no. Just as one can never learn how to paint.

The genius of Einstein leads to Hiroshima.

I begin with an idea and then it becomes something else.

Painting is a blind man's profession. He paints not what he sees, but what he feels, what he tells himself about what he has seen.

You have to have an idea of what you are going to do, but it should be a vague idea.

Die Toreros heutzutage machen alles sehr genau. Alles ist abgezirkelt und berechnet. Leidenschaft ist nicht mehr modern.

There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.

Die Kunst des Suchens ist das Finden.

One must act in painting as in life, directly.

Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions.

When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk, you'll end up as the Pope.' Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.

I do not seek. I find.

Success is dangerous. One begins to copy oneself, and to copy oneself is more dangerous than to copy others. It leads to sterility.

I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.

We don't grow older, we grow riper.

The older you get the stronger the wind gets - and it's always in your face.

You mustn't always believe what I say. Questions tempt you to tell lies, particularly when there is no answer.

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.

Is there anything more dangerous than sympathetic understanding?

Genie ist Persönlichkeit mit zwei Groschen Talent.

To make oneself hated is more difficult than to make oneself loved.

The people who make art their business are mostly imposters.

Youth has no age.

When I die, it will be a shipwreck, and as when a huge ship sinks, many people all around will be sucked down with it.

Art is a lie that makes us realize truth.

I have a horror of people who speak about the beautiful. What is the beautiful? One must speak of problems in painting!

Good artists copy, great artists steal.

If all the ways I have been along were marked on a map and joined up with a line, it might represent a minotaur.

Ich habe nie verstanden, warum Frauen an talentierten Männern zunächst deren Fehler und an Narren deren Verdienste sehen.

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

They ought to put out the eyes of painters as they do goldfinches in order that they can sing better.

Es kommt nicht darauf an, was der Künstler tut, sondern was er ist.

Everything you can imagine is real.

We must not discriminate between things. Where things are concerned there are no class distinctions. We must pick out what is good for us where we can find it.

What might be taken for a precocious genius is the genius of childhood. When the child grows up, it disappears without a trace. It may happen that this boy will become a real painter some day, or even a great painter. But then he will have to begin everything again, from zero.

The more technique you have, the less you have to worry about it. The more technique there is, the less there is.

Love is the greatest refreshment in life.

Everything is a miracle. It is a miracle that one does not dissolve in one's bath like a lump of sugar.

My mother said to me, 'If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.' Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.

Es gibt zwei Arten von Frauen - Göttinnen und Hausmeisterinnen.

The chief enemy of creativity is 'good' sense.

Kunst ist eine Art Aufruhr.

Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.

If there were only one truth, you couldn't paint a hundred canvases on the same theme.

Never permit a dichotomy to rule your life, a dichotomy in which you hate what you do so you can have pleasure in your spare time. Look for a situation in which your work will give you as much happiness as your spare time.

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

Action is the foundational key to all success.

Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone.

Every positive value has its price in negative terms... the genius of Einstein leads to Hiroshima.

Wenn Männer alles wüßten, was Frauen denken, wären sie tausendmal kühner.

I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.

The world today doesn't make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?

Sculpture is the best comment that a painter can make on painting.

Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.

Art is not the application of a canon of beauty but what the instinct and the brain can conceive beyond any canon. When we love a woman we don't start measuring her limbs.

The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.

To draw you must close your eyes and sing.

It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.

I don't believe in accidents. There are only encounters in history. There are no accidents.

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

He can who thinks he can, and he can't who thinks he can't. This is an inexorable, indisputable law.

We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth, at least the truth that is given to us to understand.

Work is a necessity for man. Man invented the alarm clock.

Who sees the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?

Disciples be damned. It's not interesting. It's only the masters that matter. Those who create.

Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not.

If only we could pull out our brain and use only our eyes.

Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun.

To copy others is necessary, but to copy oneself is pathetic.

It is your work in life that is the ultimate seduction.

Computers are useless. They can only give you answers.

I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.

Sculpture is the art of the intelligence.

Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.

An idea is a point of departure and no more. As soon as you elaborate it, it becomes transformed by thought.

When you start with a portrait and search for a pure form, a clear volume, through successive eliminations, you arrive inevitably at the egg. Likewise, starting with the egg and following the same process in reverse, one finishes with the portrait.

Are we to paint what's on the face, what's inside the face, or what's behind it?

To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense! To finish it means to be through with it, to kill it, to rid it of its soul, to give it its final blow the coup de grace for the painter as well as for the picture.

Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.

Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.

Give me a museum and I'll fill it.

One does a whole painting for one peach and people think just the opposite - that particular peach is but a detail.

There are only two types of women - goddesses and doormats.

It takes a long time to become young.

Art is the elimination of the unnecessary.

God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant and the cat. He has no real style, He just goes on trying other things.

What is a face, really? Its own photo? Its make-up? Or is it a face as painted by such or such painter? That which is in front? Inside? Behind? And the rest? Doesn't everyone look at himself in his own particular way? Deformations simply do not exist.
