When I realized I could use Facebook as a way to communicate directly with my fans, I thought it would be a great idea.
Retirement is not in my vocabulary. They aren't going to get rid of me that way.
'Mary Tyler Moore' was - it was my first big hit.
Animal lover that I am, a cougar I am not. Betty White I Am, Animal, Lover I didn't know what Facebook was, and now that I do know what it is, I have to say, it sounds like a huge waste of time.
I am still to this day star struck. I look out at this audience and I see so many famous faces, but what really boggles my mind is that I actually know many of you. And I’ve worked with quite a few … maybe had a couple … and you know who you are.
I don't care who anybody sleeps with. If a couple has been together all that time - and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones - I think it's fine if they want to get married. I don't know how people can get so anti-something.
I’ve always liked older men. They’re just more attractive to me. Of course, at my age there aren’t that many left!
The bottom line is, I'm blessed with good health. On top of that, I don't go around thinking 'Oh, I'm 90, I better do this or I better do that.' I'm just Betty. I'm the same Betty that I've always been. Take it or leave it.
There's no formula. Keep busy with your work and your life. You can't become a professional mourner. It doesn't help you or others. Keep the person in your heart all the time. Replay the good times. Be grateful for the years you had.
I like bawdy humor. I love bawdy humor, but not dirty humor.
I have two ex-husbands.
I love words. Sudoku I don't get into, I'm not into numbers that much, and there are people who are hooked on that. But crossword puzzles, I just can't - if I get a puppy and I paper train him and I put the - if all of a sudden I'd open the paper and there's a crossword puzzle - 'No, no, you can't go on that, honey. I'll take it.'
Well I love Snickers and I thought, sure that’d be fun, why not? So I got over there early one morning and didn’t know I was going to be in the … ice cold muddy water, but all I had to do was just lie down in it. This poor stunt woman took the dive, she went in. And it was a great stunt that she did, and I got the laugh. Now, really, that’s unfair when that happens. She’s probably sticking pins in a little Betty White doll.
I may be a senior, but so what? I'm still hot.
I’m not a big cook. I only go in the kitchen to feed my dog.
I'm not into animal rights. I'm only into animal welfare and health. I've been with the Morris Animal Foundation since the '70s. We're a health organization. We fund campaign health studies for dogs, cats, lizards and wildlife. I've worked with the L.A. Zoo for about the same length of time. I get my animal fixes!
Why retire from something if you're loving it so much and enjoying it so much, and you're blessed with another group of people to work with like the gang on 'Hot in Cleveland?' Why would I think of retiring? What would I do with myself?
I think a lot of people like hidden-camera shows where they think they're spying on somebody who doesn't know they're looking at them. And nobody takes it seriously - you either enjoy it and get a laugh out of the reactions or not.
It's a little known fact that one in three family pets gets lost during its lifetime, and approximately 9 million pets enter shelters each year. That's why it's a wonderful thing to get your pet microchipped and registered with your contact information because then they can be located and the owners can track where their pets are.
I've enjoyed the opposite sex a lot. Always have. Always will.
I don't know where I learned elephants like their tongues slapped. Whatever turns you on.
I think it's your mental attitude. So many of us start dreading age in high school and that's a waste of a lovely life. 'Oh... I'm 30, oh, I'm 40, oh, 50.' Make the most of it.
If you have one good series, you know, it's a blessing. Two good series is unusual. Three is a phenomenon, but right now, I'm working with these wonderful women on 'Hot in Cleveland,' and Valerie Bertinelli, and Wendy Malick and Jane Leeves are like, it's like the buddy-ship we had on 'Golden Girls' and 'Mary Tyler Moore.'
If you're walking with your lady on the sidewalk, I still like to see a man walking street-side, to protect the lady from traffic. I grew up with that, and I hate to see something like that get lost. I still like to see that a man opens the door. I like those touches of chivalry that are fast disappearing.
I have my golden retriever now, Pontiac. He's a career-change guide dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind.
A lot of people think this is a goodie two-shoes talking. But we do have a tendency to complain rather than celebrating who we are. I learned at my mother's knee it's better to appreciate what's happening... I think we kind of talk ourselves into the negative sometimes.
I have a two-story house and a bad memory, so I'm up and down those stairs all the time. That's my exercise.
I think older women still have a full life.
I love Cadillacs and name them after birds.
I am interested in a lot of things - not just show business and my passion for animals. I try to keep current in what's going on in the world. I do mental exercises. I don't have any trouble memorizing lines because of the crossword puzzles I do every day to keep my mind a little limber. I don't sit and vegetate.
I'm in the acting business. That's the ego business.
Don't try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won't live long enough to find out about, but I'm still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, 'I'm going to be 30 - oh, what am I going to do?' Well, use that decade! Use them all!
The audience today has heard every joke. They know every plot. They know where you're going before you even start. That's a tough audience to surprise, and a tough audience to write for. It's much more competitive now, because the audience is so much more - I want to say 'sophisticated.'
During the Depression, my dad made radios to sell to make extra money. Nobody had any money to buy the radios, so he would trade them for dogs. He built kennels in the backyard, and he cared for the dogs.
I go out to the kitchen to feed the dog, but that's about as much cooking as I do.
I enjoy being busy, I really do. Remember, I'm the stub end of the railroad. I have no family, so I'm not taking busy time away from people that I should be spending it with. So I'm just relaxing and enjoying it.
I think that a show that is as successful as 'The Golden Girls' is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. If you don't feel proud to be part of a show that has that kind of track record, then shame on you, because that's a privilege.
I just make it my business to get along with people so I can have fun. It's that simple.
I really don't care with whom you sleep. I just care what kind of a decent human being you are.
It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.
I was an only child and I had a mother and father who were just - there wasn't a straight man in the house, and I mean that in a very nice way. They were fun, and we would laugh a lot.
Animals are near and dear to my heart, and I've devoted my life to trying to improve their lives.
The writers are the stars of every really successful sitcom.
When I pontificate, it sounds so, you know, Oh, well, she's preaching. I'm not preaching, but I think maybe I learned it from my animal friends. Kindness and consideration of somebody besides yourself. I think that keeps you feeling young. I really do.
I don't seem to require a lot of sleep. I just - if I get four, five good hours, I'm fine. But sleeping is sort of dull. There's a lot of other good stuff that you can do without just lying down and closing your eyes.
Wilderness is harder and harder to find these days on this beautiful planet, and we're abusing our planet to the point of almost no return.
I'm having the time of my life and the fact that I'm still working - how lucky can you get? I'm 90 years old and still able to work as much as I do. That's a privilege.
I always wanted to be a zookeeper when I was growing up, and I've wound up a zookeeper! I've been working with the Los Angeles Zoo for 45 years! I'm the luckiest old broad on two feet because my life is divided absolutely in half - half animals and half show business. You can't ask for better than two things you love the most.
Well, I mean, if a joke or humor is bawdy, it's got to be funny enough to warrant it. You can't just have it bawdy or dirty just for the sake of being that - it's got to be funny.
Doing drama is, in a sense, easier. In doing comedy, if you don't get that laugh, there's something wrong.
I'm the luckiest broad on two feet, I'll tell you that. They say once a woman passes 40 she doesn't get any good parts, so I'm blessed.
I had to make a major decision with myself because I just don't think you can do both: try to have a baby career and raise it and have a baby baby and raise it. And to try to do justice to either one. It was a very conscious decision on my part not to have children - which I have never regretted.
When we started in television, there was that magic box in the corner of the room, and 'Oh my gosh - look what it's doing!'
Long ago, I did a five-and-a-half-hour-a-day, six-day-a-week talk show for four years, early on, in Los Angeles - local show. And when you are on that many hours with no script, you know, you get very comfortable, maybe overly comfortable with that small audience.
I like double entendre because then the people who get it enjoy it, and the people who don't get it don't know about it.
I'm a big cockeyed optimist. I try to accentuate the positive as opposed to the negative.
I don't get political.
A good friend of mine was Lucy Ball. Her mother and my mother were best friends.
I am the luckiest old broad on two feet if the truth were known. It's - but it all goes back to 'Mary Tyler Moore,' 'Golden Girls,' all those - actors love to take the credit. We couldn't do it without the writers.
A lady likes to be complimented on her looks, her eyes, her figure. But the personality comments are much appreciated.
I'm not what you might call sexy, but I'm romantic. Let's put it that way.
I've worked with the Los Angeles Zoo for 45 years, and we have this magnificent photographer, Tad Motoyama. He takes these wonderful, wonderful animal pictures. All through the years he's given me copies of these pictures. Well, I have all these gorgeous ones, so I said, 'Tad, I want to do a book with your picture on one side.'
I'm in the middle of my sixth book, which is about animals at the Los Angeles Zoo.
Anger tears me up inside... My own... or anyone else's. Betty White Anger, Me, Tears You can always tell about somebody by the way they put their hands on an animal.
I have the backbone of an eel.
Wendy Malick and Valerie Bertinelli make fun of me, but I take care of my health - I don't abuse it.
I just want to bring as much natural as I can. I'm not saying that people who take acting lessons are false. They're much better than I am, but it doesn't work for me.
Hot dogs and Red Vines and potato chips and French fries are my favorite foods.
If you get into a Broadway show and it doesn't work, you're a failure. And if it does work, you may be stuck for who knows how long. It just doesn't sound great to me!
Animals don't lie. Animals don't criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do.
I've worked with Morris Animal Foundation for more than 40 years now, and I'm so proud of all they've done to advance veterinary medicine for animals worldwide.

Happy Birthday Martin Luther King!
Property is intended to serve life, and no matter how much we surround it with rights and respect, it has no personal being. It is part of the earth man walks on. It is not man.
It is incontestable and deplorable that Negroes have committed crimes; but they are derivative crimes. They are born of the greater crimes of the white society.
The Negro needs the white man to free him from his fears. The white man needs the Negro to free him from his guilt.
The art of acceptance is the art of making someone who has just done you a small favor wish that he might have done you a greater one.
Ungerechtigkeit an irgendeinem Ort bedroht die Gerechtigkeit an jedem anderen.
A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan.
To other countries, I may go as a tourist, but to India, I come as a pilgrim.
Ein Aufruhr ist die Sprache der Ungehörten.
A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.
The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.
Since being in India, I am more convinced than ever before that the method of nonviolent resistance is the most potent weapon available to oppressed people in their struggle for justice and human dignity.
We must concentrate not merely on the negative expulsion of war but the postive affirmation of peace.
A right delayed is a right denied.
I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.
An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.
A lie cannot live.
The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict.
Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.
Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about momentary results. Nations have frequently won their independence in battle. But in spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace.
Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon. Indeed, it is a weapon unique in history, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it.
Don't let anybody make you think God chose America as His divine messianic force to be a sort of policeman of the whole world.
It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.
Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge which is power; religion gives man wisdom which is control.
Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.
It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important.
Every man lives in two realms: the internal and the external. The internal is that realm of spiritual ends expressed in art, literature, morals, and religion. The external is that complex of devices, techniques, mechanisms, and instrumentalities by means of which we live.
That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.
All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us face to face with another problem.
The past is prophetic in that it asserts loudly that wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows.
The sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality.
Es ist nicht zu spät zur Umkehr.
When you are right you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative.
I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood.
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.
Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.
The moral arc of the universe bends at the elbow of justice.
If I wish to compose or write or pray or preach well, I must be angry. Then all the blood in my veins is stirred, and my understanding is sharpened.
Seeing is not always believing.
Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world better.
Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.
At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.
If a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live.
Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.
The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.
The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: 'If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?' But... the good Samaritan reversed the question: 'If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?'
We must use time creatively.
A riot is the language of the unheard.
Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.
We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.
Any religion that professes to be concerned about the souls of men and is not concerned about the slums that damn them, the economic conditions that strangle them and the social conditions that cripple them is a spiritually moribund religion awaiting burial.
He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.
Ich habe mich für die Liebe entschieden. Hass ist mir eine zu schwere Bürde.
We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.
Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.
Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?
Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.
All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.
Leichtgläubige Menschen verfallen leicht dem Aberglauben.
The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important.
Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent.
There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love.
I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
We are not makers of history. We are made by history.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.
We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Die Frucht wird durch den Glauben bezwungen.
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
Liebe ist die beständigste Macht der Welt.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Alles was wir sehen ist ein Schlagschatten von dem was wir nicht sehen.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.
We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now.
We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
The time is always right to do what is right.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
There is nothing more tragic than to find an individual bogged down in the length of life, devoid of breadth.
Oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever. The yearning for freedom eventually manifests itself.
If physical death is the price that I must pay to free my white brothers and sisters from a permanent death of the spirit, then nothing can be more redemptive.
I want to be the white man's brother, not his brother-in-law.
The principle of self defense, even involving weapons and bloodshed, has never been condemned, even by Gandhi.
Never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was legal.
Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.
If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values - that all reality hinges on moral foundations and that all reality has spiritual control.
We who in engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive.
Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress.
Wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows.
War is a poor chisel to carve out tomorrow.
Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.
Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.
Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies - or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
I am not interested in power for power's sake, but I'm interested in power that is moral, that is right and that is good.
There comes a time when people get tired of being pushed out of the glittering sunlight of life's July and left standing amid the piercing chill of an alpine November.
I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go to the mountain. And I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land! I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land.
One of the greatest casualties of the war in Vietnam is the Great Society... shot down on the battlefield of Vietnam.
Pity may represent little more than the impersonal concern which prompts the mailing of a check, but true sympathy is the personal concern which demands the giving of one's soul.
Means we use must be as pure as the ends we seek.
Capitalism does not permit an even flow of economic resources. With this system, a small privileged few are rich beyond conscience, and almost all others are doomed to be poor at some level. That's the way the system works. And since we know that the system will not change the rules, we are going to have to change the system.
Philanthropy is commendable, but it must not cause the philanthropist to overlook the circumstances of economic injustice which make philanthropy necessary.
The question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be... The nation and the world are in dire need of creative extremists.
Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.
Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think.
Discrimination is a hellhound that gnaws at Negroes in every waking moment of their lives to remind them that the lie of their inferiority is accepted as truth in the society dominating them.
The limitation of riots, moral questions aside, is that they cannot win and their participants know it. Hence, rioting is not revolutionary but reactionary because it invites defeat. It involves an emotional catharsis, but it must be followed by a sense of futility.

Happy Birthday Kirstie Alley!
When I was straight, I had the courage and energy to become an actress. I owe my career to my will to stop using.
It's amazing how coke encompasses everything in your life. Addicts cannot confront life because they only think of their next hit. I ruined life for my parents, my sister and all my friends.
When I play ball, I play hardball.
No matter what parents do, kids retain their uniqueness.
Until I separated from Parker, I had never been without them-and it's the hardest thing to share them. But we're trying to give the children the semblance of having whole lives.
I don't like psychiatry. I don't believe it works. I believe psychiatrists are neurotic or psychotic, for the most part.
Through history, people look for something spiritual. The greatest scientists in the world were men of religion and faith, too.
I binge when I'm happy. When everything is going really well, every day is like I'm at a birthday party.
I was so naive I didn't even know about agents. I telephoned the William Morris agency and asked to speak to Mr. Morris. I expected Bill Morris to be waiting for my call.
Usually, about 85 percent of what the tabloids report is a lie. Over the last year, I can truly say it has been 99 percent.
I have a hotline to the tabloids. When I get up in the morning, I call the Star, and the last thing at night, I call them. I want them to have the inside track.
You'll never be disappointed if you always keep an eye on uncharted territory, where you'll be challenged and growing and having fun.
I don't think children are any more resilent than anyone else. They're just people with little bodies.
The reason I went for Jenny Craig is I thought, Maybe I'm not the only one who has stupid reasons for getting fat.
I am the one who got myself fat, who did all the eating. So I had to take full responsibility for it.
I sort of feel sorry for the next man who gets me. I may just kill him with passion. He'd better be strong and have a good heart!
I always had really long swimmer's arms. The last to totally go is always my thighs and butt, but my old body is there somewhere.
Indians have a big problem with alcohol and drugs. I grew up with an admiration for their culture and was sensitive to their problems.
I always feel like there is some dude out there with money that I could fall back on if I needed to.
There's a lot more to life than how fat or thin you are.
God gave us intestines for a reason. I'm not keen on surgery. It's too extreme. All it took was one of those plastic surgery shows to see how violent it is.
I probably spend more time with my kids than the average stay-at-home mother.
For some reason I am one of those people who act like they were born and raised during the Depression.
My food demons are Chinese food, sugar, butter.
I was really tired of words like 'plus size,' 'round' and 'large.' I thought, 'Come on, we're fat.'
I love marriage. I failed at marriage, but I'd rather go into anything with gusto and fail than go into it half-assed.
When I'm at my best, I'm wearing a 6. When you see yourself pick out the 6... you want to wear the tags on the outside of your clothes.
When you are generalizing, and when your goal is to malign and to say things about an entire group - there are tens of millions of Scientologists in the world - when you decide to blanket statement that 'Scientology is evil,' you are my enemy.
Scientology helps you lose your insanities. One of the keys is, they say, 'You're in charge of your life, buster. You're responsible for any condition you're in.' If I look at it that way, it helps.
I have photographs taken of me at the time I was addicted, and thought I looked good. I see them today and realize my eyes were dead.
The thing about me is, I don't care what religion you are. If someone is attacking your religion, I will have your back, and I will defend you. I think that is the most repulsive thing a person can do, attack another person's faith.
I don't believe you have to have eating disorders and mental illness to screw up.
I think that probably all religions sound bizarre to the people who are not the practitioners of them.
I don't smoke pot. I never liked it.
I'm fat! There's nothing else to call it.
When you're the spokeswoman for a weight-loss program, everything is witnessed. I weigh in once a week with a witness. I have to sign an affidavit saying I cannot have any surgeries.
If you stop exercising - which I did - and if you stop watching your caloric intake - which I did - you're gonna get fat.
I developed a nutty attitude where I'd think, If some guy really loves me he doesn't care if I'm fat. I'd come up with all these stupid reasons why it would be OK to be fat.
I have to be below 140 to really look good. I have to work my legs like crazy. Actually, do you want my real goal? My real goal's always too low. I love the way I look at, like, 128.
I never did go back to acting class. I was too busy working.
I want to be a billionaire, and then I want to change something in the world for real.
I couldn't care less about sex unless I meet someone who I think is wonderful.
When I see someone who is starved, they don't look alert. They don't have boundless energy. If you're too skinny, it looks like you're near death.
I believe that behind both the person who weighs 400 pounds and the one who weighs 85 there is a lot of baggage, and it has nothing to do with their bodies.
When push comes to shove, it ain't the science that's going to lift you up - it's the belief, the spiritual side of life, that's going to lift you up, no matter what religion you are.
I've been irresponsible many, many, many times and that has resulted in my being fat.
There's always somebody older, richer, more desperate than you.
I was born to do sitcoms, where you get an immediate response from the audience.
It was the greatest thing in the world getting fat. Every meal out was an event. Or we'd go to Italy and we'd have pasta, truffles, and dessert and then plan the next incredible meal. It was a happy-go-lucky time. I never had so much fun.
I'm happy when I'm juggling, but I feel like I've gone from, like, 3 balls to 10 bowling balls. But, that's a good problem. I don't really have a complaint about that.
Look for someone who has a complete life without you in it. If you have a person you don't need for anything, that's ideal. You're just together because you really want to be.
You're not going to live your life unscathed.
It's amazing how coke encompasses everything in your life. Addicts cannot confront life because they only think of their next hit. I ruined life for my parents, my sister and all my friends.
When I play ball, I play hardball.
No matter what parents do, kids retain their uniqueness.

Happy Birthday Stephen Hawking!
I believe everyone should have a broad picture of how the universe operates and our place in it. It is a basic human desire. And it also puts our worries in perspective.
However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
In less than a hundred years, we have found a new way to think of ourselves. From sitting at the center of the universe, we now find ourselves orbiting an average-sized sun, which is just one of millions of stars in our own Milky Way galaxy.
Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.
There is no physical law precluding particles from being organised in ways that perform even more advanced computations than the arrangements of particles in human brains.
People won't have time for you if you are always angry or complaining.
There could be shadow galaxies, shadow stars, and even shadow people.
Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.
My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.
My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you doing well, and don't regret the things it interferes with. Don't be disabled in spirit as well as physically.
I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.
We are in danger of destroying ourselves by our greed and stupidity. We cannot remain looking inwards at ourselves on a small and increasingly polluted and overcrowded planet.
I believe things cannot make themselves impossible.
Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it.
God not only plays dice, but also sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen.
Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.
There is a real danger that computers will develop intelligence and take over. We urgently need to develop direct connections to the brain so that computers can add to human intelligence rather than be in opposition.
If I had to choose a superhero to be, I would pick Superman. He's everything that I'm not.
If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans.
Even if it turns out that time travel is impossible, it is important that we understand why it is impossible.
If the rate of expansion one second after the Big Bang had been smaller by even one part in a hundred thousand million million, it would have recollapsed before it reached its present size. On the other hand, if it had been greater by a part in a million, the universe would have expanded too rapidly for stars and planets to form.
People who boast about their I.Q. are losers.
Science is increasingly answering questions that used to be the province of religion.
One can't predict the weather more than a few days in advance.
I think we have a good chance of surviving long enough to colonize the solar system.
I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.
Life would be tragic if it weren't funny.
I believe alien life is quite common in the universe, although intelligent life is less so. Some say it has yet to appear on planet Earth.
A few years ago, the city council of Monza, Italy, barred pet owners from keeping goldfish in curved bowls... saying that it is cruel to keep a fish in a bowl with curved sides because, gazing out, the fish would have a distorted view of reality. But how do we know we have the true, undistorted picture of reality?
It is generally recognised that women are better than men at languages, personal relations and multi-tasking, but less good at map-reading and spatial awareness. It is therefore not unreasonable to suppose that women might be less good at mathematics and physics.
I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.
We are all now connected by the Internet, like neurons in a giant brain.
Time travel used to be thought of as just science fiction, but Einstein's general theory of relativity allows for the possibility that we could warp space-time so much that you could go off in a rocket and return before you set out.
I was never top of the class at school, but my classmates must have seen potential in me, because my nickname was 'Einstein.'
Stem cell research is the key to developing cures for degenerative conditions like Parkinson's and motor neuron disease from which I and many others suffer. The fact that the cells may come from embryos is not an objection, because the embryos are going to die anyway.
We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.
We must develop as quickly as possible technologies that make possible a direct connection between brain and computer, so that artificial brains contribute to human intelligence rather than opposing it.
In my opinion, there is no aspect of reality beyond the reach of the human mind.

Happy Birthday Arton Eisenberg!
One TREK to RULE THEM ALL!!! ;)
...and my life was forever changed.
Thank-you to all of the fans that made this possible and kept Star Trek alive!!
And thank-you to Michael Piller, Rick Berman and Ira Behr believing in me and giving me the wonderful opportunity to portray "Nog" on DS9. Thank-you to all of our writers, Robert Hewitt Wolfe, Ronald D. Moore, Peter Allan Fields, Bradley Thompson, David Weddle, Hans Beimler and René Echevarria for all of your amazing stories and including me in so many of them!
And thank-you to the amazing cast and crew of our show that I was honored to work with.
I will forever be grateful to all of you for the wonderful experience I had on our show.
<3 Star Trek
I was very worried about one scene when I knew I had to cry and just let the emotions flow. Anson [Williams] was directing and he was really pushing me during that scene. Anson kept asking for a retake and I began to get really worried that my performance wasn't up to par. We'd do the scene again, and again he'd call for a retake. By now I´m starting to get upset and on the next take all the rage and frustration I was feeling just came pouring out. After that take everyone on the set, even the crew, started clapping.
As we watch the final sunset fall on the horizon of 2016, perhaps we can see the beauty in the darkness that many felt permeated 2016. And maybe it will leave us with hope for tomorrow, for 2017, to be a wonderful year for all. 2016 brought a lot of amazing joy to me, personally, with healing of my body from my kidney transplant to a beautiful future with Malissa. I hope all of you have an amazing 2017!! Happy New Year!!
When I got into acting, I had just had a kidney transplant and didn't know where I was going to be in four years. At the time, I was eighteen and I looked eleven. I knew I had an asset I could market, because I looked like a kid but I was an adult they could work with. I didn't go to college then because that was my advantage - but I also didn't want to give myself nothing to fall back on.
Posting many of my favorite photos on Instagram so you might see them here as well. I've shared them here many times before, so I apologize for the re-sharing of them. Getting inspired for new ones so stay tuned!! And follow me on Instagram!!
I felt honored to be given that episode (In The Pale Moonlight). It was an opportunity to play Nog differently. The experience of losing his leg forced Nog to face his own mortality. That episode was the biggest challenge of my career and I think that I grew as an actor from the experience.
